Background

The Greater Pine Area Endowment (GPAE) was created in 1992 as a component fund of the Initiative Foundation to develop community resources and to enhance the quality of life of individuals and families in the Pine City, Minnesota area. The Initiative Foundation is a regional community foundation, based in Little Falls, which focuses on strengthening communities and families through grants, business loans, community leadership training and donor services.

Vision

A contribution to the GPAE will help to strengthen the vitality of the community in perpetuity, while providing and effective means for area residents to help friends, neighbors and future generations.

Mission

To provide financial resources to meet the long-term strategic needs of the Greater Pine Area Community, focusing initially on job creation and retention.

The Greater Pine Area Endowment will consider grants to projects that promote community pride and quality of life through environmental stewardship and community beautification.  In addition, the GPAE will consider proposals that positively impact the housing, safety, employment and other needs of the more vulnerable members of the community including youth, the elderly and those who are low-income.  Specifically, the GPAE will seriously consider proposals, which aim to lessen human suffering while at the same time building the capacity of people to positively change their life circumstances.
